These are the vendors that I use and recommend. You are welcome to use other vendors, if you’ve got one in mind, but if you aren’t sure what to select, this page will outline the best of the best and why I use them. Some of these links are affiliate links, which means that when you click on them and create an account, I earn a small amount of revenue off your purchase. I only endorse vendors that I actually use.
Domain Registration
In my experience, it really doesn’t matter who you register your domain name with — the service that you get is pretty much the same from vendor to vendor. The only difference is the customer experience. I like to use vendors that have good customer service, an easy to navigate website, and that don’t pressure you with upsells to make unnecessary purchases.
Hover
$15-20/year
I have had my domains with Hover for AGES and have always been so, so happy with them!
The things I love about Hover:
- Extremely easy to navigate website that doesn’t change almost ever
- Literally no upselling
- Very easy to read help documents

Google Domains
$15-20/year
The only benefit to using Google Domains over Hover is that is makes for a seamless setup for Google Workspace.
The things I love about Google Workspace:
- Sets you up with a branded email address instead of a generic one (and cuts down on your spam!)
- Gives you all the Google Apps you’ve grown to love like Sheets, Docs, Gmail, Drive, etc. only linked to your personal domain name.
Hosting Companies
It’s important to choose a webhost that is reliable and that has built-in support. You don’t want to be on the other end of a 40 minute wait time when you call into the support line when the shit hits the fan (because it’s not a matter of IF it hits the fan, but when).
Flywheel
$13-25/month
My first interaction with Flywheel was as one of their first customers when they were a startup with a team of three dudes in the Silicone Prairie (Nebraska). They have since expanded and were purchased by WP Engine a few years back.
The things I love about Flywheel:
- Top-notch support for non-tech people — you will never feel like you’re being judged by tech support
- Super helpful documentation and guides
- Easy to understand pricing
- Seamless experience for someone like me to come in and help you periodically

WP Engine
$20-50/month
WP Engine is where the real nerds live. This is the hosting plan for you if you want to have an online store or will have a larger site because you will get more power and speed to load your website. It’s a little more geared toward developer-types.
The things I love about Google Domains:
- Lightening speed support — I’ve never had a support ticket open for more than an hour
- Super reliable and if anything ever gets broken, they’re quick to fix things
- So fast. Like, so fast. Got huge pictures? Or lots of products? No sweat.
